My Scrappy Life is the Internet home for Kaylea M. Hutson-Miller, a Missouri gal who now calls the land of Sooners & Cowboys home — but still has a dash of Dorothy and Razorbacks in her soul.
With a background in community journalism in northeast Oklahoma, Hutson-Miller is an award-winning freelance journalist / photojournalist.
A junior high and high school teacher in northeast Oklahoma, Hutson-Miller teaches speech, drama, debate, journalism, digital media, yearbook and even stop-motion animation.
In her free time she lives on #LittleFarmOnTheLake in northeast Oklahoma (on Grand Lake) with the Lawman (detective husband). She’s often found doing volunteer work involving kidlets.
Together, The Lawman & Lois Lane (his nickname for her) have BatCat (a rescued cat and often featured subject for columns), Opie (a rescued dog and loyal friend) and Muzzy (an Oklahoma brown tarantula – who hangs out in his aquarium home just eating crickets).
